eXo ECM 2.0 use the JCR technology (Java Content Repository) and is JSR 170 standard compliant. The eXo JCR can be used to store text files as well as many other file type, like PDF, Office documents, images,... A key functionalitie of the JCR is that you don't need to care about how files are stored as they can be stored in a database or as an independent file. The use of eXo JCR brings other advanced features, like unified access control, advanced research, versioning, indexing and others.
