Since 2013, the <\/span>U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) <\/b>has mandated, the <\/span>University of California<\/b> at Los Angeles (<\/span>UCLA<\/b>) to build the <\/span>National Child Traumatic Stress Network<\/b> (<\/span>NCTSN<\/b>). <\/span><\/p>\n

This collaborative learning platform built by UCLA for the NCTSN focuses on US military and especially issues involved with providing mental health care to military service members, veterans and their families members.<\/span><\/p>\n

This network allows researchers, frontline providers and families to elevate the standard of care provided to victims of trauma while expanding access to services.<\/span><\/p>\n

The challenge for eXo<\/a> was to create a social learning platform<\/a> providing extensive resources, allowing the NCTSN community<\/strong> to acquire knowledge<\/strong>, exchange best practices and share experiences on an online platform<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Since the NCTSN<\/strong> offers extensive learning resources<\/strong> to providers, they needed a platform<\/strong> that could support them with their training program.<\/p>\n

“We didn\u2019t want to deliver a boring learning experience. We envisioned an interactive environment, and <\/i>eXo Platform<\/i><\/strong> incarnated it best.” \u2014 Jason Liu, Researcher, <\/i>UCLA<\/i><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

After studying the market, UCLA<\/strong>\u2019s choice favored eXo Platform<\/a> as it was the closest solution to the project team\u2019s vision and offered customization capabilities for accommodating both branding and integrating dedicated e-learning systems<\/strong>.
\nAfter a year in the works in which the user interface was rebranded and the Moodle e-learning management system<\/strong> was integrated to the eXo platform<\/strong>, followed by a 6-month long pilot phase, the new social e-learning platform<\/a> was rolled out to the whole network.<\/p>\n
