Members of our public online community site \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/community.exoplatform.com\/portal\/intranet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eXo Tribe<\/a>\u201d could already spot some of its improvements as that site has been running on this new platform version.<\/p>\n<p>For the Enterprise distribution, about 22,000 manual and automated tests have been executed in this version on all of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/terms-conditions\/supported-environments.pdf\">supported enterprise environments<\/a> and around 160 detected defects were corrected.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s look at what\u2019s inside some of the key noteworthy updates in this new version:<\/p>\n<h2>New Design for the Chat Module<\/h2>\n<p>Those familiar with eXo Platform know that it ships with a 1:1 and team chat tool that is conveniently integrated to the platform\u2019s key applications to facilitate <strong>collaboration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In this new version, we <a href=\"https:\/\/www-upgrade.exoplatform.com\/blog\/2018\/08\/09\/platform-5-1-sneak-peek-new-design-and-improvements-for-chat-exo-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">redesigned this app<\/a> and introduced a beautiful new interface. It\u2019s now more flat, clean and seeks to offer a more intuitive user experience.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17126\" Notifications Are Here!<\/h2>\n<p>Driven by client request, we introduced support for native mobile push notifications for the <strong>eXo Mobile app<\/strong> available for <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=org.exoplatform&amp;hl=en\" class=\"broken_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Android<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/exo\/id410476273?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iOS<\/a> devices.<\/p>\n<p>Users can now receive native alerts on their phones about things happening in their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/?utm_source=BlogEn&amp;utm_medium=Blog&amp;utm_campaign=Content&amp;utm_content=link\">eXo Platform<\/a> site, depending on their personal Now you can just leave them.<\/h2>\n<p>You may already know that the chat module in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/?utm_source=BlogEn&amp;utm_medium=Blog&amp;utm_campaign=Content&amp;utm_content=link\">eXo Platform<\/a> lets you create chat rooms and invite people to them to discuss and collaborate in real-time leveraging a set of platform-integrated features (documents, tasks, events, meeting notes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www-upgrade.exoplatform.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/23\/platform-5-0-sneak-peek-web-conferencing-exo-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">web conferencing<\/a>, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>However, we noticed that with time the user can find himself a member in too many rooms that he does no longer needs or in which he&#8217;s not needed anymore. This generates unnecessary noise for said user. The Tasks module now allows setting user permissions at the level of projects (and subprojects) allowing to prevent tasks participants or simple observers from deleting tasks which they do not own.<\/p>\n<h2>The Techy Stuff<\/h2>\n<p>Technical improvements focused mainly on enterprise integration.<\/p>\n<p>We added support for version 7.1 of JBoss EAP for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/product-offer\/?utm_source=BlogEn&amp;utm_medium=Blog&amp;utm_campaign=Content&amp;utm_content=link\">eXo Platform Enterprise Edition<\/a>. We improved multi-source Users\/Groups\/Roles import by making the retrieval of data from external stores (eXo IDM internal database, LDAP\/Active Directory, custom stores, etc.) asynchronous, importing periodically the data into the internal eXo IDM database. We improved user data integration by reducing the data footprint of creating and synchronizing accounts. We also simplified the platform\u2019s cache administration by harmonizing cache configuration in cluster and local modes to simplify its administration.<\/p>\n<p>This version also marked the first phase of a new series of security auditing and improvements aided by the feedback of our security-sensitive customer organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Last but not least, and as always, this new version packs cumulative bug fixes.<\/p>\n<h2>What\u2019s next?<\/h2>\n<p>Interested in knowing what product improvements we are targeting in the next versions?
