{"id":17172,"date":"2018-10-19T07:27:11","date_gmt":"2018-10-19T14:27:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/blog\/?p=17172"},"modified":"2018-10-19T07:27:11","modified_gmt":"2018-10-19T14:27:11","slug":"winamp-is-making-a-comeback-in-2019-cartoon-of-the-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/blog\/winamp-is-making-a-comeback-in-2019-cartoon-of-the-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Cartoon of the Week: Winamp is making a comeback in 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the apps that helped define the \u201990s is making a comeback next year. <strong>Winamp<\/strong>, the 21-year-old media player, was one of the most popular ways to listen to music on the computer before<strong> iTunes<\/strong> and is now getting a reboot, intending to put all your music, podcasts and streaming services in one place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alexandre Saboundjian<\/strong>, CEO of Radionomy, which bought <strong>Winamp<\/strong> in 2014, says: &#8220;There will be a completely new version next year, with the legacy of <strong>Winamp<\/strong> but a more complete listening experience. You can listen to the MP3s you may have at home, but also to the cloud, to podcasts, to streaming radio stations, to a playlist you have perhaps built.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>media player<\/strong> may have lost the popularity it once had but, as old habits die hard, the software still has a passionate base of 100 million monthly users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Winamp<\/strong> users really are everywhere. It\u2019s a huge number,\u201d says Saboundjian. \u201cWe have a really strong and important community. But everybody \u2018knows\u2019 that Winamp is dead, that we don\u2019t work on it any more.
