For that reason and to compete better with <strong>Amazon<\/strong>, the retail store is adding voice-controlled shopping and is turning to <strong>Google<\/strong> for that.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Walmart<\/strong> customers can now shop for groceries through the \u2018<strong>Walmart Voice Order<\/strong>\u2019 feature, which is based on <strong>Google\u2019s AI-powered voice assistant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The two companies announced a partnership this week that looks set to strengthen Walmart in its continuous and fierce war with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/blog\/cartoon-week-amazon-become-faangs-biggest-loser\/\">Amazon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Using this new feature, users can <strong>add Walmart to Google Assistant<\/strong> and simply link their existing <strong>Walmart delivery accounts<\/strong>. <strong>Walmart customers\u2019<\/strong> purchase histories will be linked to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/blog\/cartoon-week-google-assistant-manage-life\/\">Google Assistant<\/a>, allowing <strong>Walmart<\/strong> to identify which type of products customers prefer.<\/p>\n<p>This tie-up between the two companies will enable <strong>Walmart<\/strong> to get closer to customers who purchase groceries through voice assistants.<\/p>\n<p>As voice shopping is expected to become the norm over the coming years, <strong>Walmart<\/strong> does not want to be left behind.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We continue to innovate for the future and look to technology,&#8221; said <strong>Tom Ward<\/strong>, Senior Vice-President of <strong>digital operations at Walmart US<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Even though the future sounds promising for <strong>Walmart<\/strong>, let\u2019s not forget that <strong>Amazon\u2019s Echo<\/strong> accounts for more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emarketer.com\/content\/amazon-echo-share-will-drop-below-two-thirds-in-2019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">60%<\/a> of smart speaker sales.
