US senator Elizabeth Warren<\/strong> has announced a plan to expand internet access in rural communities<\/strong> to give \u2018every home in America\u2019 fibre broadband at an affordable price.<\/p>\n

\u2018I will make sure every home in America has a fibre broadband connection at a price families can afford,\u2019 the senator from Massachusetts wrote<\/a>. \u2018That means publicly owned and operated networks \u2013 and no giant [internet service provider] running away with taxpayer dollars.\u2019<\/p>\n

As a lot of Americans living in rural areas and tribal lands don\u2019t have access to minimum-speed broadband, Elizabeth<\/strong>\u2019s proposal includes $85 billion for non-profits and local governments<\/a> to build fibre networks to cover all these areas.<\/p>\n

Having access to reliable, high-speed internet will help unlock economic opportunities and advances in many industries, such as telemedicine and healthcare.This will make remote work<\/a> possible even in rural zones.
