These practices, of course, rendered traditional security methods and frameworks outdated. Security requirements have evolved and now need to embrace a broader range of factors, not only limited to the office infrastructure, in order to counter the threats of phenomena such as <a style=\"color: #2f5e92; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/blog\/what-is-shadow-it-how-it-can-impact-your-business-and-what-you-can-do-about-it\/\">shadow IT<\/a>, and also support modern working policies such as <a style=\"color: #2f5e92; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/blog\/why-you-should-implement-a-byod-policy\/\">BYOD<\/a> (<strong>Bring Your Own Device<\/strong>) among others.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6167f07 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6167f07\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Additionally, we have seen the implementation of many initiatives and regulations aimed at protecting personal data and increasing transparency and trust, such as the <strong>General Data Protection Regulation<\/strong> (<a style=\"color: #2f5e92; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/blog\/general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr-compliance-with-exo-platform\/\">GDPR<\/a>) in the European Union and many other privacy laws linked to countless countries. Add to that the multitude of international information security standards and programmes such as ISO\/IEC 27001 and FedRAMP, to name just a few, and businesses find themselves under increased pressure to comply in order to protect their data, remain competitive and, of course, avoid hefty penalties in cases of security breaches and non-compliance. This is where <a style=\"color: #2f5e92; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.g2.com\/categories\/security-awareness-training\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\"><u>security awareness training<\/u><\/a> comes in. The results mainly revolved around the role of employee habits and the tools they use in relation to overall system security. For example, 67 per cent of the surveyed respondents stated that they often overlook security policies to save time and be more productive. Bad habits and actions at the individual level (with no malicious intent in most cases) can have severe consequences on entire systems. For example, ever since the start of the pandemic, there has been a rise in the number of phishing emails and scams. According to one <a style=\"color: #2f5e92; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.barracuda.com\/2020\/05\/06\/surge-in-security-concerns-due-to-remote-working-during-covid-19-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Barracuda Networks<\/a> study of &nbsp;1000 decision makers located throughout the US, UK, France and Germany, 51 per cent of organizations indicated that they have witnessed an increase in the number of phishing attacks since transitioning to full remote working, mainly owing to the sudden and rapid transition from the office.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6fb3ae2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6fb3ae2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tYet, what is more worrying is that the same organizations stated that 51 per cent of their employees aren\u2019t properly trained to deal with threats related to <strong>remote working<\/strong>, with a further 46 per cent not confident that their web-based applications are even secure.
