For our context, we can, yet, identify the common characteristics that make an internal enterprise community.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bdcae91 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bdcae91\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In that context, communities have almost an informal coexistence with an organization. They are not things that you will see in the org chart. They are not some formal organizational or operational group such as a department nor an official project team.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3b49eb8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3b49eb8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>What we\u2019re referring to as <i>communities<\/i> here are <i>any <\/i>groups that come to life when the following combined traits are available:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-09d1527 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"09d1527\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ol style=\"list-style: dis; margin-left: 20px!important;\">\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Free and voluntary engagement<\/strong> in it and\/or its management. It is something that you take part in because you want to and not merely because it\u2019s part of your job,<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is characterized by a <strong>common identity and work culture<\/strong>. This criterion might seem a little too strict in our context, but in fact, it simply represents a <strong>common affinity and interest<\/strong>.<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each community member has a certain <strong>feeling of belonging<\/strong> linking him to the organization and its people and having a certain influence on his general actions and behavior therein.<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Such a community has no hierarchy per se, it and its members are <strong>autonomous <\/strong>in its organization and member roles.<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cohesion of the community is ensured by a collective <strong>respect of the organization\u2019s commonly accepted norms<\/strong>.<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Sharing of resources<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3cd308f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3cd308f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>These different characteristics may have different weights and emphasis for each different community.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-00a2e12 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"00a2e12\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This may, in fact, allow us to identify different main categories of communities that can thrive inside your organization.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c5b0925 myheader1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c5b0925\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Types of internal communities<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-54f45f5 elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"54f45f5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\r\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b67d752 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b67d752\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>We can propose the following categorization of internal communities which seem to appear the most in the enterprise context:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3f72f9c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3f72f9c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul style=\"list-style: disc; margin-left: 20px!important;\">\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Communities of interest<\/strong>: They justify their existence through sharing around a common interest, such as a skill, career, passion, or a challenge. This interest can either be at the core of what the organization does, or a little distant from that core. In the case of the latter, that distance should not be viewed pejoratively as it can be fertile soil for the emergence of innovation feeding the organization with new ideas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-30a3a8f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"30a3a8f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul style=\"list-style: disc; margin-left: 20px!important;\">\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Communities of practice<\/strong>: These are characterized by a proximity to the area of expertise of each one of the members. It is a hub of knowledge sharing. It promotes learning and the development of new skills and expertise. An example of this would be a community of IT developers which allows its members to share the latest coding best practices, new tools and techniques that may improve their work and competitiveness, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9ac63d3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9ac63d3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul style=\"list-style: disc; margin-left: 20px!important;\">\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Communities of action<\/strong>: These undertake a project or a common goal. They focus on reaching objectives through the collaboration of different specialists taking part in the community. An example of this would be a community that aims to build a prototype of a potential new product or service as envisioned by usually the creator of the community. Albert Bandura developed the concept of <strong>self-efficacy<\/strong> or <strong>personal effectiveness<\/strong>. It represents the belief (real or not) in one\u2019s ability to carry out a task. For Bandura, this belief is the foundation of one\u2019s behavior: members may engage with the community if they believe it will produce satisfactory results in this regard.<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We can associate this element of motivation with a well-known concept among community managers: <strong>anticipated reciprocity<\/strong> (or giving in order to receive): I contribute to the community because I hope others will do the same.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-30a0c12 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"30a0c12\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>These levers of engagement will also collide with another type of behavior: the attitude of self-restraint.
