{"id":37176,"date":"2018-02-16T07:56:19","date_gmt":"2018-02-16T15:56:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/blog\/?p=14917"},"modified":"2018-02-16T07:56:19","modified_gmt":"2018-02-16T15:56:19","slug":"cartoon-week-google-block-intrusive-ads-within-chrome-browser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/blog\/cartoon-week-google-block-intrusive-ads-within-chrome-browser\/","title":{"rendered":"Cartoon of the Week: Google to block intrusive ads within its chrome browser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starting this week, <strong>Google<\/strong> will begin blocking <strong>intrusive ads<\/strong> by turning on by default the <strong>adblocker<\/strong> in its <strong>Chrome browser<\/strong> for desktop and Android \u2013 ending the scourge of awful banners and creating a healthier ecosystem of the web.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cA big source of frustration is annoying ads: video ads that play at full blast or giant pop-ups where you can\u2019t seem to find the exit icon,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blog.google\/products\/chrome\/browser-web-worth-protecting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Rahul Roy-Chowdhury, vice president for <strong>Chrome<\/strong>. \u201cThese ads are designed to be disruptive and often stand in the way of people using their browsers for their intended purpose \u2013 connecting them to content and information. It\u2019s clear that annoying ads degrade what we all love about the web.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Well, hello <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exoplatform.com\/blog\/google-temasek-to-participate-in-go-jeks-us1-2b-funding-round-exo-platform\/\">Google<\/a>! Internet users have already reached that conclusion years ago and even managed to <strong>block web ads<\/strong> by <strong>using ad blocking code in browsers<\/strong>, in apps, and in network hardware. It was about time!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Google<\/strong> will not outright block all ads but will instead inform sites with intrusive ads about the CBA guidelines and then give them 30 days to catch up. The company will only block ads from sites that persist.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t worry <strong>Google \u2013<\/strong> we can\u2019t blame you on laxing on your own rules. We\u2019re perfectly aware that you make most of your money from online advertising \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Just joking! We know that you can\u2019t hurt advertisers who aren\u2019t doing anything disruptive.
