CAIXA

Founded in 1861, CAIXA is the main agent of public policy for the federal government of Brazil. As a 100% public institution, CAIXA influences the lives of millions of Brazilians. It serves not only its bank customers, but all Brazilian citizens, through social security, unemployment insurance, real estate loans, national lottery and many charity programs. By prioritizing sectors like housing, sanitation, infrastructure and services, CAIXA plays an important role in promoting urban development and social justice in the country, helping to improve citizens’ quality of life, especially the underprivileged.

The Opportunity

CAIXA has chosen eXo Platform for a several key projects including:

The "Bolsa familia" portal, a grant program for underprivileged families. The portal allows local representatives to register eligible aid recipients and gather household demographic information.

A marketing portal for "Feirão da habitação ", an initiative that assists potential home-buyers with obtaining credit. The portal shows properties offered by construction companies and allows visitors to apply for credit. The portal presents comprehensive information about promotion events, recent real estate transactions and also includes credit simulators and online forms for credit application.

An internal portal to aggregate all customer-related applications applications used by Caixa employees. This includes applications managing investments, saving accounts or insurance credit. The portal is accessible by several thousand employees.

The Requirements

• Java EE portal-based solution (JSR 168/286) to facilitate 3rd party application integration.
• A content management system with user-friendly UI customization features.
• An easy and customizable content publication mechanism.
• An efficient content update mechanism with export and import features.
• Full compatibility with Struts portlets.
• A robust solution serving up to 18000 users.

The eXo Solution

CAIXA's projects leverage the complete spectrum of eXo Platform features, from the enterprise portal, Web Content Management to social networking capabilities. Projects are deployed on SPARC machines running Solaris or Intel machines running Linux Debian. All projects use PostgreSQL as the JCR database.

The Result

• Seven concurrent projects, with a wide range of objectives, technical requirements and constraints, all rely on eXo Platform.
• The Feirão project, already in production, receives over two million page visits per month.
• The “Bolsa Familia” portal, still in development, will support up to 18000 logged-in users.
• CAIXA's projects are successful with eXo Platform, and have been warmly received by CAIXA customers, employees and users. The organization works closely with eXo on an ongoing basis to implement new functionalities for future initiatives.
