Common Questions

Is your product cloud-based or on-premise?

You can install the product on-premise. Or, we can also host and manage your platform for you in the cloud. Both options are available for Enterprise, Enterprise Unlimited and OEM offers. The Professional offer is available in the cloud only.

How can I try the product?

You can contact us to get a customized demo or a dedicated testing environment suited to your use cases.
You can also start by visiting our online community (eXo Tribe) to get a sneak peek at a live implementation of eXo Platform for a community management use case. There, you can test drive some of the platform’s functionality using ‘My Applications’ and the Sandbox space.

What are your payment terms?

Our subscriptions are paid annually upfront for both cloud or self-hosted modes. Payment terms are contractual for other services. Click here for detailed terms and conditions.

Which services are included in the subscription price?

Support , maintenance, security advisory, cloud hosting as well as self-care services are included in the subscription price. Other services are purchased separately.

What are your support guidelines?

We offer two levels of support: standard and premium. The standard level provides web support during standard business hours for three named contacts. The premium level provides 24/7 web and phone support for unlimited cases and five named contacts. The premium level also includes support for custom developments and integrations performed by eXo Platform experts. Detailed SLAs for each support level can be found here.

Do you include maintenance?

Yes, maintenance is included in all offers. You get access to all bug fixes and enhancements developed for our customers in regular maintenance releases. For hosted customers, maintenance upgrades are planned with you and 100% handled by our team.

What are security advisories?

When security issues are reported our security team analyses the severity and prepares protective patches and instructions. When security fixes are ready, a security advisory is an early notification before we make the fixes publicly available. The security advisory is a comprehensive list of security issues, risks and remediation instructions, including access to patches to protect your system. For peace of mind, security patches are automatically applied by our team for hosted customers.

What are developer APIs?

It is the ability to deeply customize your platform, connect it to your information system or extend the software to match your specific needs.

What do you mean by beta?

We first release a beta version for a new add-on. That means that it is available and compatible with the platform. During its beta phase, the add-on is installed and used and feedback is gathered. Popular add-ons are then improved based on feedback and productized either as separate add-ons or as part of the core platform. Clients who chose to participate in the beta phase, get advantages for the final version.

What is your refund policy?

We offer a 30-day refund for subscriptions purchased online. There are no refunds for services.

Doesn’t open source mean free? What are you selling?

Open source means open code that your IT team can fully control. We sell enterprise-ready packaged editions of an open-source eponyme project, eXo Platform. We also sell support and other services for our commercial editions.
