Sneak peek: a New Experience for News management
In every organization, news plays a key role. It helps you to share the company’s vision, inform about strategic projects, strengthen internal culture, and above all, maintain connection between employees.
In the major release eXo 7.0, news management has been completely revamped to provide a smoother, more flexible, and engaging experience for both contributors who publish and employees who read articles.
Content
1. New edititing options
News and notes now work with the same editor. The creation and editing of news has been redesigned to provide a unified and enhanced experience. User mentions, automatic draft management, and simplified image integration: everything has been designed to make news editing easier.
- Mentions: it is now possible to mention users directly in news, as in notes.
- Simplified draft management: a draft is automatically saved as soon as you start writing. No more fear of losing your content. You can focus on your message.
- Optimized image management: the goal was to store images in a way that is transparent to the user. This has simplified rights management and solved the problem of missing images for some users in news. Add image is now faster, and you can write an alternative text, choose its alignment, and change its size, including specifying precise dimensions.
- Metadata management: the merging of news and notes now allows you to add metadata in the “properties” drawer. You can manage the image and summary for each article.
- Cross-referencing: you can also attach a document to your news and easily add one or more notes from your space.
In terms of reading, the experience is more visually engaging. News now have a clearer and more attractive format, both on desktop and mobile devices. As with notes, there is now a button that allows you to copy the link to an article so you can share it easily.
Result: key messages stand out better and capture more attention.
2. Multilingual management
Multilingual capabilities have been extended to news. You can now automatically translate content and save versions in different languages.
In addition, users can enable automatic translation when reading, if the content is not in their preferred language.
Result: everyone has access to relevant information in their own language, without any effort on the part of contributors.
3. New publishing options
Publishing news is now more flexible thanks to new options tailored to the specific needs of communications managers:
- Automatic scheduling and unpublishing: you can now schedule the date and time of publication for an article and automatically delete content at a specific date and time.
- Author anonymity: hide the name of the author of the article when the message is intended to represent the organization.
- Optional reactions: enable or disable likes and comments depending on the type of communication (formal announcement or community content).
These features allow communications managers to tailor each article to its objective: to inform, engage, or easily announce.
4. Embrace Decentralized Communication
With eXo Platform 7.0, news management is more autonomous and agile, suppoorting decentralized communication. A target for articles is automatically created with each new workspace. Space administrators can then easily add a “news list” component to the space home page and publish an article directly to their community, without having to rely on the global administrator to configure targets or delegate rights.
This autonomy enhances the relevance of content and brings communication closer to the real needs of teams.
5. Everyday Benefits
These changes are not just technical—they transform daily use.
- For contributors: creating and publishing news becomes faster and more intuitive. Communications, HR, and management teams can focus on the message rather than the tool. For example, an HR manager can create an article for several countries in just a few clicks, translate it into different languages, schedule it, and ensure that it is automatically unpublished once the information becomes updated.
Result: time saved and a clear message for everyone.
- For employees: reading news becomes clearer and more relevant. Important information is highlighted, content is more enjoyable to browse, and everyone feels more engaged in the life of the organization.
