Open Source Experience 2025: strengthening Europe's strategic autonomy
On December 10 and 11 in Paris, eXo Platform will participate in OSXP 2025, which will provide an opportunity to discuss a key issue: how open source can become a lever for digital autonomy in Europe.

A geopolitical context that is redefining European digital technology
At a time when geopolitical tensions are reshaping the global balance of power, the issue of digital autonomy is emerging as a strategic challenge for European countries. US extraterritorial laws, such as the Cloud Act and FISA, remind us that data hosted by non-European providers remains subject to foreign jurisdictions.
This reality is particularly sensitive for public actors: ministries, local authorities, and public institutions must now reconcile security, data confidentiality, and innovation, while maintaining control over their digital infrastructures.
Open source appears to be a concrete answer to this challenge: a template that promotes transparency, independence, and European cooperation.
OSXP 2025: Open Source, the key to Europe's strategic autonomy
The eXo Platform team will once again be present at Open Source Experience, an event focused on Europe’s strategic autonomy. This must-attend event for the French and European open source ecosystem will take place on December 10 and 11 at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris.
eXo Platform believes that digital autonomy can only be achieved through openness and cooperation. At our booth, we will present our all-in-one digital workplace, which is establishing itself as the open source and sovereign alternative to proprietary solutions such as SharePoint or Microsoft 365.
A conference on regaining strategic autonomy

During her conference entitled “Replacing Microsoft 365 with a unified open-source digital workplace based on eXo Platform,” Veronika Mazour Mestrallet, CEO of eXo Platform, will address the challenges associated with technological dependence on major American players and present several success stories, including the Occitanie region and the French cities of Lunel, Clichy-sous-Bois, and Chelles.
Also on the agenda:
- eXo Platform, the full-featured solution: collaboration, communication, document management, email integration, etc.
- A unified user experience via a service portal and the seamless integration of business applications (GLPI, iXBus, etc.)
This statement is part of a broader debate on the future of European digital technology:
- How can digital security and autonomy be guaranteed in a context of geopolitical instability?
- What concrete strategies can be used to break free from dependence on large proprietary players?
- And how can open source become a pillar of economic and technological independence for Europe?
The French public sector paves the way for digital sovereignty
Many government agencies and local authorities have already begun transitioning to open source solutions in order to reduce their dependence on proprietary technologies. This shift is no longer just a technical choice: it is a matter of governance and trust.
Through numerous successful projects carried out with French and European public organizations, eXo Platform has demonstrated that it is possible to combine:
