A New Collaborative Intranet to Strengthen Corporate Culture and Centralize Information
Founded in 1904, the French industrial group Gilbert operates in the fields of family health, cosmetics, hygiene, and contract manufacturing, offering health solutions that respect both people and the environment.

With a portfolio of nearly 50 brands exported to 79 countries, the group is a market leader in health-related sectors—especially in France, where it ranks as the number one seller in pharmacies within the pediatric space. With 1,000 employees and six production sites across France, Groupe Gilbert is a 100% family-owned business, committed to values of innovation, quality, and proximity.

Challenge

Groupe Gilbert wanted to implement a new collaborative intranet to replace its outdated tool, which no longer met the company’s functional and technical needs.
The group was looking for a solution that would:

  • Centralize information and reinforce the group’s culture and identity

  • Be user-friendly and accessible to all employees

  • Be interoperable with existing tools in the company

  • Promote collaboration and communication between departments and employees

This project, supported by executive leadership, is being led by the communications director and an IT project manager.

Why eXo

Groupe Gilbert was won over by the eXo solution, which meets many of their essential criteria:

  • A French solution: Data sovereignty and security were key considerations for a mission-driven company like Gilbert.

  • A family-owned company: The history and values of eXo Platform—still owned by its original founders—resonated with the group’s family-oriented culture passed down through generations.

  • Ergonomics and interoperability: After several weeks of real-world testing, the platform impressed with its ease of use and its ability to integrate into the group’s existing ecosystem.

  • A unified platform and experience: With multiple brands and geographic sites, the group needed a tool that could serve diverse audiences and use cases while ensuring a consistent user experience.

The impact

The first phase of the project, currently underway, focuses on migrating content from the old intranet and structuring the platform around several key spaces: internal communications, health & safety (SSE), HR, IT, services, and subsidiaries.

A standard layout has been designed and will soon be applied across all spaces to ensure visual consistency and enhance the user experience.

Committed to employee engagement and eager to make everyone an active contributor to the company's success, Groupe Gilbert is also leveraging eXo Platform’s gamification tools. An innovative system has been set up to encourage reporting of safety issues: when an employee submits feedback, they earn points—encouraging vigilance and contributing to continuous safety improvement across all company sites.
