Kevin Durant, who was named the most valuable player in the NBA finals, is taking a shot at cloud computing. The Golden State Warriors star is adding a tech startup to his investment portfolio and serving as a board adviser for start-up Rubrik, providing advice on strategic marketing initiatives.
‘It’s a perfect opportunity’ in the business-to-business market that is a ‘major play for us’, Durant told USA TODAY on Monday.
Durant thought about his fans when taking this shot. He’s investing in something his fans take very seriously as he run into tech executives at restaurants. He’s even being assisted by an angel investor, Ronald Conway, so he’ll have a good understanding of the business.
