Cartoon of the Week: Gates to donate Five Percent Of His Fortune To his own Charity
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has made the largest gift of the century by giving away Microsoft Corp. shares to charity.
In a filing to the Security & Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday, Gates said he’s donating 64 million shares valued at $4.6 billion.
The recipient of the gift wasn’t specified but it’s believed that the majority of the donation went to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; a charity focused on reducing world poverty, fighting diseases and enabling universal access to computers.
