GateIn portal framework is an open source project developed jointly by Red Hat / JBoss and eXo, and combines the best features and functionality of the former JBoss Portal and eXo Portal projects. GateIn is at the heart of eXo Platform 3, providing an intuitive interface and the enterprise portal capabilities developers expect, such as security, personalization and federation.
LDAP Integration
User roles and teams defined in the company directory can used to easily determine the access permissions and content displayed for individual users and groups.
Learn how to connect GateIn to an existing LDAP directory in this Video Demo.
Dashboards & Personalization
Personal dashboards allow users to display their preferred content, while wizards and simple drag-and-drop tools make it easy to organize layouts. Dashboards can also be shared, to make gadgets and content available within a team.
Mashups & Gadgets
In addition to creating standards-based portlets, developers can build and display OpenSocial gadgets that can be shared within a portal or deployed on external systems.
Learn how to use GateIn as a mashup and gadget development platform in this Video Demo.
Extensibility
Virtual portals with specific layouts and navigation can be added on top of GateIn. Use eXo Extended Services to add Social, Collaboration and Knowledge management capabilities.
See how to install GateIn in this Getting Started Guide.
Websites or portal solutions built on GateIn are able to utilize a wide range of web-based assets, such as portlets, gadgets and content. By delivering portlets as reusable services, GateIn fosters improved productivity. JavaScript and AJAX reduce calls to the server for improved performance and easier development.
Single Sign-On (SSO) provided via support for CAS, JOSSO and OpenSSO frameworks, while code-level security is enabled with Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS) support.
Automatically control individual and group access to portal resources based on user profile, or create policies to limit access according to roles within groups. By allowing end users to easily control settings, dashboards and individual portal membership, administrators are able to focus on more value-added tasks.
Personalization and customizable dashboard layouts increase individual productivity. End users can select the most valuable content to display in their dashboards, including third-party gadgets.
