By turning your company directory into an enterprise social network, you give your end users more communication, connection and collaboration options, to make them more productive. With support for OpenSocial, eXo Social provides a framework for developers to build gadgets that can display and mash-up activity information for contacts, social networks, applications and services.
People & Spaces
People extends an LDAP directory by adding profile information, relationships and connections between users, while Spaces facilitates collaboration between groups.
Learn how easy it is to install and enable these features in the Getting Started Guide.
Simplified Community Management
Empower your users to create and manage their own community spaces. A portal administrator and complex steps are no longer required to set up social groups within your portal-based apps.

Activity Streams
Generate status updates and activity information for your social network users as well as your applications and services with Activity Streams.

OpenSocial, Gadgets & Mashups
OpenSocial is a specification that defines APIs for social networks and activities. It allows gadgets to be built with eXo Platform 3.0 that can be displayed almost anywhere.
Watch how we built a social gadget for the Grails Bookflow app in this Video Demo.
eXo Social provides built-in JavaScript client libraries for the OpenSocial API, so developers can easily leverage the data produced by social-enabled applications to build mashups. The OpenSocial APIs exist in REST and RPC flavors, and can deliver data in XML or JSON representation - giving JavaScript and Flex developers more choice and control.
Most enterprise applications are connection to an LDAP directory - eXo Social gives users the ability to add details to their profiles, like experience, skill and team information. Users can establish connections based on defined (and customizable) relationships, such as role hierarchy or skill-set similarities.
Give your end users the features they've come to expect from social networking sites like Facebook and LinkedIn. Enterprise Java applications become more relevant, allowing users to establish more meaningful connections and improve communication and collaboration.
Built-in apps and other eXo Extended Services can be added within eXo Platform 3.0. Features in eXo Collaboration can be shared within your social network, providing capabilities like Calendar, Address Book, Chat, Email and more. These community collaboration spaces can also integrate into existing applications or intranet portals.
