eXo Platform Enhances Its Digital Workplace with Open Source Softphone Linphone
Making a phone call without leaving the digital workplace is now possible with eXo Platform thanks to the new Linphone connector.
Developed by Belledonne Communications, Linphone is now directly accessible from within eXo Platform, providing users with a more seamless and unified communication experience.
The connector reflects eXo Platform‘s open and modular approach: integrating best-of-breed solutions from its ecosystem while preserving a consistent and unified user experience.

An Open, Sovereign European Alternative
Although voice calls remain one of the most widely used communication methods within organizations, telephony has often remained disconnected from digital workplace environments. Users frequently have to switch between their collaboration platform and a separate telephony application.
This observation led to the partnership between eXo Platform and Belledonne Communications, the company behind Linphone.
Renowned for its flexibility and interoperability, Linphone is now accessible directly from within eXo Platform through this connector. Organizations can modernize their telephony while retaining full control over their communication infrastructure.
This partnership fully aligns with eXo Platform‘s strategy of building, together with its partner ecosystem, a credible, open, and sovereign European alternative to proprietary collaboration suites developed outside Europe. By relying on open standards and open source software, organizations benefit from greater freedom of choice, improved portability, and stronger control over their data, addressing today’s growing digital sovereignty requirements.
This new integration also strengthens Orange Business’ Live Collaboration trusted suite, built around eXo Platform and complemented by open source solutions from technology partners such as Linphone.

Bringing Telephony into Everyday Collaboration
The Linphone connector brings telephony directly into the everyday experience of the digital workplace.
Users can:
- Call a colleague or community member with a single click from the directory or their profile page, without searching for a phone number or switching applications.
- Start a call directly from the contact card displayed when hovering over the profile picture of a colleague, customer, or partner referenced in eXo Platform.
The objective is simple: bring voice communication back to the center of collaborative workflows without multiplying tools or disrupting the user experience.
For organizations, it also means bringing communication and collaboration tools closer together, delivering a smoother and more unified user experience while improving everyday efficiency.

With this connector, eXo Platform continues to expand its open, modular, and sovereign collaborative environment.

Availability
The Linphone connector is compatible with eXo Platform 7.2 and will also be available in future releases. It is distributed under the AGPL license.
