Staging Extension 2.2 Is Released!
We are pleased to announce the release of Staging Extension 2.2. This version is primarily focused on the portlet and comes with a great deal of improvements, some new features, and a couple of bug fixes, all summarized here. This blog post will highlight the most significant changes.
Feel free to download this new version and give us feedbacks. All the documentation for this version can be found here.
When 2 become 1…
In the previous version, there were 2 portlets: one for exporting and importing and one for synchronizing between 2 eXo. There is now only one portlet, which gathers all of the features. It will make use of the application more intuitive, as everything is in one place. As such, there will be no need to wonder which application to use, and this brings a common UXP (navigation, interaction, messages, and so on).
The documentation has been updated to describe the new interface.
Save Your Synchronization Target Servers
It is now possible to save a target server for later use. Indeed, the form has a new “Save As…” field to save the values. The saved servers are then displayed and can be selected, so there is no longer any need to fill in the same information again and again.
Automatic Resource Type Detection for Import
In Import mode, there is no longer any need to select the resources type to import. The type is automatically detected after the zip file has been uploaded. This offers a better user experience by eliminating unnecessary user actions.
It also has the advantage of validating the content of the zip file before launching the Import process.
Cute, isn’t it?
The skin has been updated to align with the eXoPlatform 4 style. Here is an illustration:
Inner beauty also counts
Under the hood, the client section has been rewritten in order to use AngularJS. AngularJS is an open-source JavaScript framework, maintained by Google, “built around the belief that declarative programming should be used for building UIs and wiring software components, while imperative programming is excellent for expressing business logic.” This makes it very intuitive to develop client-side rich applications.
As a side effect, this offers a good example of how to integrate AngularJS with eXoPlatform. Have a look at the source code.
Enjoy!
